Identification of critical factors for the implementation of reverse logistics in the manufacturing industry of Pakistan

Purpose The purpose of this research is to identify major barriers the implementation reverse logistics (RL). Also, study addresses best practices among reuse, remanufacture, recycling, refurbishment and repair as alternatives for RL processes. Design/methodology/approach This targets supply chain management experts their opinions regarding identification critical implementation. Their were extracted through a Web questionnaire based on 14 criteria with 5 alternatives. tools multi-criteria decision-making are used analysis, i.e. fuzzy VIKOR TOPSIS. Findings results indicate that lack recognition competitive advantage be gained practice most barrier least or facilitator “supportive initiative end-of-life products.” top-ranked alternative in reuse followed by remanufacturing. important “repair” case Pakistan. These ranked “ q values” derived VIKOR. Research limitations/implications can only generalized manufacturing sector Pakistan during period study. Practical implications findings will assist managers deploying concerning RL. Originality/value Fuzzy TOPSIS have not been applied previous research.
